What is the Difference Between a Fire-rated Cabinet and a Non-fire-rated Cabinet?
JL Industries’ Fire-FX2™ and Fire-FX® cabinets are insulated with approved fire-resistant material. They have been tested to industry standards by a third-party testing organization so you can be assured that our cabinets installed in an opening in a fire-rated wall maintain the integrity of the wall. Non-fire-rated cabinets do not offer those benefits. We provide a separate submittal for our Architectural Series fire-rated cabinets, as they require a larger wall opening for installation. You can read more about fire-rated cabinet in the – Fire-rated Cabinet Information Technical Article.
Do any of your Cabinets Meet the ADA Projection Criteria?
Yes, many of our cabinet models are either fully or partially recessed. Look for model numbers in blue in our catalog and on our submittals, to find cabinets that comply with the ADA maximum projection requirements of 4”.
This includes:
- Cabinets with the number “2” as the fourth character of the model number. These models project only 4″ from the wall and include a flush pull.
- All trimless and flat trim models with any handle.
- All 1 1/4″, 1 1/2″, 2 1/2″ or 3″ trim models with any handle—excluding bubble cabinets.
You can read more about cabinet accessibility, operable parts and calculating mounting height in our Cabinet ADA, Mounting Height and Projection Technical Article.
